WYR Senior High I

This past weekend was a snowy one, but we had a blast at camp!
The 83 senior high youth and sponsors took full advantage of the tube run, and even made up some of their own snow games.
Here are just a few highlights from the weekend.

WYR Junior High I

We got snow just in the nick of time for our first Winter Youth Retreat!
With 178 junior high youth and sponsors who made the trek to Amigo, it was a wonderfully full weekend.
Take a look at some memories.

December Crop

Another Scrapbooking Retreat has come and gone!
These retreats are always filled with fun, laughter and a lot of cropping.
We had nine new faces scattered among the familiar.

The ladies enjoyed reconnecting with old friends, making new friends, laughing, late night pizza on Saturday, and wonderful mochas.
Here are some scenes from the weekend.

One scrapbooker put together a memorial to her father throughout the weekend.

Some husbands set the bar high, sending roses to their wives.

Two sets of friends meet at December's retreat.
Scrapbookers get right to work.
I am always amazed by the eagerness these women come with. They make sure they arrive not a moment too late and make the most of every minute of the retreat.
2012 Scrapbook Retreat dates have been posted on our website.
Visit www.amigocentre.org to see how you can get involved in these special weekends.

Blessings,
Kara

Winter wonderland.

We've had our second snow already this winter here at Amigo, and we woke up to a beautiful wonderland at camp. Here are a few pictures from the morning:

A big thanks to our maintenance crew who have spent most of the day working hard to clear sidewalks, driveways, and the parking lot.

Blessings,
Kara

Let's Celebrate.

Celebrate Amigo was, once again, a fun-filled weekend. Though it was chilly and a bit damp, guests enjoyed all that camp had to offer. Here are a few highlights from the weekend:

Celebrating 40 years of Outdoor Environmental Education - Cheryl with 3 teachers who were instrumental in beginning the program, Verlyn Nofziger, Dale Stutzman and Dan Hochstetler.

Dale Stutzman shares stories from his O/EE experiences.

Rise and Shine! These guests braved the cold for morning bird-watching on the pontoon.

Nina Lanctot shares her experiences as a pastor is St. Joe county, as well as her involvement in St. Joe week last summer.

Ross pulls a wagon full of guests around Amigo's property.

Let the race begin! Cheryl divides teams for Amigo's Amazing Race, O/EE style.

Verlyn Nofziger leads a team in an outdoor rec activity.

An Amazing Race team learns about Amigo's geology collection from the couple who donated it.

One challenge for Amazing Race teams was to build a fire and make s'mores.

In the craft shack, teams played Pictionary, drawing on black paper with bleach.

Our younger guests participated in a craft time.

Cliff presents a gift to Margaret Shultz. Margaret has been Amigo's contact for St. Joe week campers for around 30 years. After next summer, she is retiring. Margaret shared Saturday evening her fond memories of St. Joe week.

As always, our auctioneers livened up the evening Saturday.

Members of 2011 summer staff lead guests in worship Sunday morning.

Cliff brought us the message Sunday morning.

Impromptu special music by Jay and Kara, who sang a song they wrote for the summer.
