Introducing Jeff Raught

I am very excited about Jeff coming and leading our January Senior High Winter Youth Retreat.

I first met Jeff at Laurelville, mostly through my wife who asked him to take some pictures at a retreat there. He led, directed, and acted in the dramas during the San Jose youth convention. Then this past year I was part of a retreat that he helped to lead. I remember laughing one moment and the next moment setting in wonder of our God. He has a real passion for the Lord, for using his gifts to encourage others.

Jeff is musician, actor, speaker, and funny guy. He currently is minister of music at Ridgeview Mennonite Church in Gordonville, PA. He, also, tours with Ted Swartz of Ted and Co. (formerly Ted and Lee) most recently with the show Tattered and Worn. He has also started a improvisational comedy group called Raught N Apples.
Please check out his website http://www.jeffraught.com/ for more information. Pass it on and encourage your church youth group to attend.

winter youth retreats coming soon

What a great picture, I can't wait for the snow....well, maybe I can wait, but I do look forward to the Winter Youth Retreats especially when there is snow for tubing, ice skating, ice fishing, snowman building, etc. But even when the weather doesn't cooperate, there is karaoke, the gym, giant dutch blitz. And there is always time to praise and worship, to be challenged and to grow in our faith. Here are the speakers for this next winter, 2010. I am excited about them and the messages they will bring. Stay tuned to this blog as I will be posting more information on each of them, so that you can get to know them a little before you come.

Speakers and weeks for 2010:
Junior High
Jan 15-17: Tina Schlabach
Feb 19-21: Marc Schlegel

Senior High
Jan 22-24: Jeff Raught
Feb 26-28: Ben Rheinheimer

Kent is putting together a house band to lead music for both of the Junior High Weekends and for the February Senior High one (with Jeremy Kempf). Jeff will use music, drama and speaking to lead us through the gathering times.

the auction...and the new auctioneer

The Celebrate Amigo Auction

The auction is always a highlight for me not only of the weekend but for the year. It is amazing to see the talents of so many people demonstrated by the quality of items made. Then there is the generosity of the crowd as the bid each other up, all to raise money for Amigo. Here are some pictures from the night. Thanks for a great time. We were able to raise nearly $10000 in the auction and thru donations.

The Auction!

A lot of thanks to Greg Blucker, who kept asking for more and more...

Kent even got to fulfill a dream of auctioning off an item.

Not sure what Willie and Greg are doing over there, this might have been when Kent had a bid for $50 and ask for $40. A good laugh was had by all, Kent included.
For over two hours, people laughed and bid. It is overwhelming to see the support and the generosity of people, especially when times are tough and the future is unsure. Thanks!

A new phase...the blog!

Welcome to the Amigo Centre blog. We plan to start posting some of our pictures, thoughts, reflections, lessons learned, etc. on this page. Our hope is to provide a resource to you as you plan, anticipate, look back on an event or program here at Amigo Centre. I am constantly amazed at our the place has affected so many different people in so many different ways. Each of us has our special, sacred places on camp, places where friendships have been cemented. Places where we have laughed together and cried together. thanks for checking us out here and if there is information that would be helpful to be posted, let us know. We, just like you, are trying to make sense out of the new and growing medium. Grace and Peace.
